Why the name Boosting Bravery?

Teens act in brave ways all the time when it comes to navigating life—such as handling hard emotions, friendship conflicts, and new awkward situations, to name just a few.

Boosting Bravery is all about utilizing teens' existing bravery by coming together and learning new skills to boost their abilities, all while having fun.

It was developed and piloted by Dr. Ruston, other knowledgeable adults, and many teenagers over a two and a half year period.

How It Works

Over 8 weekly sessions, student-led teams meet for 45-60 minutes. Using the meeting guides, student leaders facilitate discussions about social situations or emotional topics and lead the group in practicing and learning related skills and techniques they can use in their everyday lives.
